Looking out for community

Community Improvement of Algoma raises money for community projects, programs, services and organizations through volunteerism in the August Shanty Days beverage tent and through Wet Whistle Wine Fest profits.

New this year, organization is sponsoring a scholarship to encourage students and adults to pursue an associate degree in the trades (see our website for details).

On April 19, the group donated a fire blanket to the Algoma Fire Department Donation. With the advent of electric cars, fire departments soon realized that they couldn't contain all car fires with tons of water.

The fire blanket is used to extinguish these fires and cool down the over-heated battery. For more on the organization, visit algomaciofa.org.
