We are never too old to learn.
That is a something I learned last Friday night, when I got out of my recliner to go to bed for the evening, caught my foot is in the leg of the couch and took a header, landing on the hard floor.
As a result, I now have a humongous bruise on my chin, one skinned knee and the other one doesn't want to work right. And I also have a very sore big toe.
But I don't think I broke any bones, although the big toe is very painful. But there is nothing they can do about fractured toes anyway. I'm sure my knee caps are just bruised, since I've had extensive experience with broken bones and neither knee feels like that.
That was four or five days ago, and the other morning when I got up, both knees felt better. However, my bruised chin is still very obvious.
Everyone is asking me who I got in a fight with, and what the other guy looks like. My response is the floor, and the floor won. It shows no sign of my clumsiness, though.
¶ Enough of my problems. We went to "Hooray for Hollywood" on Sunday and enjoyed another outstanding performance. Thank you to all the cast and crew for your efforts and making us forget our troubles, if only for a few hours. When it was over, my face hurt from laughing. It was hysterical, and they didn't even pick on me this year.
All the proceeds generated are donated to 18 different nonprofit organizations throughout Kewaunee County. Over the years, they have raised thousands of dollars that I'm sure has helped keep all of them afloat.
"Hooray for Hollywood" was started up many, many years ago and several of the original cast and crew are no longer with us. But the tradition continues with many of their children now taking part, and they are just as talented as their parents.
So, thank you to everyone who had a part in putting on the show. I thought it was terrific and does nothing but benefit Kewaunee County residents. Thanks again!
¶ Speaking of funny things, have you heard this one?
Two yokels were on the train heading home when one of them noticed some cows.
“What a lovely bunch of cows.” he remarked.
“Not a bunch, that's a herd,” said the second one.
“Heard of what? asked his friend.
“Herd of cows,” was the reply.
“Of course I've heard of cows,” said the first one.
“No, a cow herd,” said the other yokel in exasperation.
“What do I care what a cow heard?" replied his buddy. "I have no secrets to keep from a cow.”
And with that silliness, I will say, have a great week, everyone.
