Ludlow: A natural talent I don't want to have

I hope everyone enjoyed their Fourth of July holiday. At least the weather has been cooperating. Although, as I'm writing this Tuesday afternoon, they just predicted scattered showers for Wednesday, the Fourth. But Mother Nature will do what she wants, regardless of what's going on.

► I want to remind my readers and Kewaunee High School former students and friends of the all-class Alumni Fest reunion coming up this month, on July 21, as I wrote last week. It will be from noon to 10 p.m. at Lakehaven Hall in Kewaunee. Different bands will take turns entertaining all during the event.

It's the third annual event of its kind. I went last year and it was a lot of fun, meeting and reuniting with former KHS students, many of whom I hadn't seen since graduating. And it's great that it's for all former students and friends, because you often had friends in other classes as well as your own.

So come on down to Lakehaven Hall on the 21st and, if it's anything like last year, you'll have a great time. I'm planning to be there unless something else comes up that I have to do.

► Why are some of us just natural klutzes? I can fall down anywhere and everywhere.

I was visiting a friend the other day and took another tumble. On the way down, the top of my head hit one of the wooden steps leading upstairs.

It didn't break the skin or anything, but I do have a new lump and it hurts to the touch. No serious damage done. I'm pretty hard-headed. Probably has something to do with being stubborn.

I just seem to have a real knack for falling. I've been doing it ever since I learned to walk, according to my parents. But at least, this time, I didn't break anything. So I guess there's a bright spot to everything.

► I found another cute story on the internet. Here it is:

Bob left work one Friday evening. It was payday, so instead of going home, he stayed out the entire weekend partying with his friends and spent his entire paycheck.

When he finally appeared at home Sunday night, he was confronted by his angry wife and barraged for two hours with a tirade. Finally his wife stopped and said to him, “How would you like it if you didn't see me for two or three days?"

He replied, "That would be fine with me."

Monday went by and he didn't see his wife. Tuesday and Wednesday came and went with the same results.

But Thursday, the swelling went down just enough where he could see her a little out of the corner of his left eye.
