I don’t know how many state tournaments I’ve bowled in, but I do know that each and every one of them have been fun.
A group of us from Kewaunee County, Denmark and Green Bay went to Wausau this weekend and proceeded to have one more good time. And some from our group actually bowled well. Needless to say, I wasn’t one of them.
We had 20-plus women in a huge RV and had it packed full with bowling bags, luggage and people and of course, full coolers. It was my first experience in that type of vehicle. And fortunately, I didn’t trip over anything all weekend.
We bowled singles and doubles on Saturday and team event Sunday, a total of nine games for the weekend.
In the doubles and singles events, Kathy Brown had a game of 236 and Deb Pribek rolled a 230. Dawn Valenta threw a 201 high game and Nancy Kinjerski, 213, Brenda Vandermause had a 210 high game. JoJo Caflish picked up the 5-7 split.
In team event Sunday, Nancy Kinjerski rolled a 203 high game and Jill Naze rolled a high game of 189 with a 113 average, a whopping 75 pins over her average.
Nice bowling everyone! Me, I had a good time, and that’s why I go every year. A big thank you to our trip organizer, Ellen Siebold, who made all the arrangements for the weekend, including the reservations, etc. And also, a big thanks to the RV driver, who got us there and back safely.
If I missed mentioning any good scores, I sincerely apologize. It was not intentional.
But it was a super weekend, a hoot and also very tiring. I pretty much vegetated all day Monday while recuperating. I think I’m getting too old for all that foolishness, but I keep trying anyway. I thought people got wiser with age, but guess that doesn’t work for everyone.
The bowling season is winding down, and the league’s closing banquets are scheduled. Our Thursday night banquet is the end of this month at Slovan. I believe there is a roll-off next week for the League Championship. Our team is not in it. But that’s OK, too. Roll-offs can be stressful, and I just don’t take it that serious anymore.
It’s time to check out my golf clubs and clean them up for another season of fun on the links at Alaska. It’s supposed to be a beautiful weekend weather-wise. Let’s hope the forecasters are correct.
Here’s some corny jokes I found on the internet: What do you call a grizzly with no shoes? Bear foot. Why do owls always get invited to bird parties? Because they’re such a hoot. What did the volcano say to his girlfriend? I lava you. (groan)
After all that corn, have a great week everyone!
