Ludlow: Eagerly anticipating cataract removal

Recently, I've had problems with my eyesight. Whenever the sun comes out, everything looks hazy and a little blurry to me. I couldn't figure it out, so decided to have an eye exam.

It had been quite a while since my friend, Lou had been to the eye doctor, so she asked me to make an appointment for her too, which I did. And then she asked her sister to drive us and she agreed.

Now, I've been wearing glasses since I was 3 years old, a total of seven decades, and don't know what it's like to not wear them.

Several years ago, my eye doctor told me the best thing that could happen would be if I got cataracts. And then he told me I had absolutely no sign of them. Well, that was several years ago. Things change.

Since I've had problems recently, I wondered if I was developing them now, or if it was macular degeneration, or was I just going blind. Just the thought of losing my eyesight was frightful. I'd have to change my lifestyle and give up everything I enjoy doing. It was pretty stressful.

Well, come to find out, I do have cataracts and will have to have them removed. As the doctor told me, once it's done, my vision should be much improved. In fact, I may only need glasses for reading. I just can't imagine how it will feel to have good vision. In fact, I am really looking forward to the experience.

How many people do you know who are looking forward to having cataract surgery? Not many, I'd guess. I will continue to wear glasses, but the prescription won't have to be nearly as strong.

I go in for a surgery consultation in June and just wish it was sooner. But I guess I have to be patient, not one of my strong suits.

In a change of subject, I was looking on the Internet the other day and came across the “Difference between Cats and Dogs."

A dog thinks, Gee, these people I live with feed me well, love me, pet me and provide me with a clean dry warm house to live in ... They must be gods.

And a cat thinks, Gee, these people I live with feed me well, love me, pet me and provide me with a clean dry warm house to live in ... I must be a god!

And being a cat owner for almost 20 years, that is the truth people. In my honest opinion, cats do think that we are here for one reason only, and that is to take good care of all felines and make them happy. And I tried my best while I had Sterling.
