Maybe, since it's finally May, Mother Nature will take pity on us and warm up the temperatures. At least, it has gotten better as I write this. I just went out to my mailbox and was surprised at how warm it was outside. I just hope it stays that way.
The remaining patch of snow in my yard has finally disappeared, thank goodness. I just hope that is the end of the white stuff. Now we just need some rain to green up the grass, which has now happened.
► I think I've mentioned this previously, but I just can't get over how many parents pick up their kids from school. As this is written, my street is lined with vehicles to pick up their kids.
We used to walk to and from school when I was a kid. Both my parents had fulltime jobs, so my brother and I walked to school. At that time, we lived downtown in Kewaunee, so every morning, we walked up the hill to get to school. It was a lot easier going home in the afternoon, mostly downhill.
Of course, that was back in the dark ages, before the new school was built in Kewaunee. We went to what is now called Marquette School and I believe it will be torn down sooner or later. I heard it was in really bad shape. Everything changes as the years go by.
► I saw this cute saying on Facebook today — “Getting old is no fun. I used to get up feeling like a million bucks. Now I feel more like a bounced check.”
Can you handle some more funnies?
A man tells his doctor that he’s incapable of doing all the things around the house that he used to do. When the examination is over, he says, “OK, Doctor, in plain English, what’s wrong with me?”
“Well, in plain English,” says the doctor, “you’re just lazy.”
The man nods. “Now give me the medical term so I can tell my wife.”
And here comes one more, found on the Reader's Digest website and submitted by Christopher Field of Fort Collins, Colorado.
A man was working on a Ph.D. in engineering for the past five years, but his kids didn’t necessarily see that as work. As the man and kids were driving past a Walmart, one son spotted a "Now Hiring" sign and suggested the dad could get a job there.
Hoping to make a point, the man asked, “Do you think they’re looking for an engineer?”
“Oh, sure,” the son said. “They’ll hire anybody.”
And with that bit of foolishness, have a great week, everyone.
