The Thursday Ladies Golf League began this week and I haven't even been out there yet. But the weather just hasn't been warm enough for me yet. I guess I'll just have to layer up.
Since I've gotten older, I just can't believe how the cold weather affects me. Now I understand why so many senior citizens move south.
But, it's May and we live on the shore of Lake Michigan. It just takes a while to warm up in this area, but we're anxious for it to happen — especially the golfers. We all just have to cool the jets and be patient. Easier said than done. I wish I had all the enthusiasm for cleaning the house as I do for golf.
As I'm writing this, the weather is on television and it's in the mid to high 60s all around the area, except in Kewaunee, where it's 54, thanks to the big pond to the east. I know, when we get into summer, we will appreciate that lake breeze, but today, It's a pain.
Not much going on in my world these days. My life is pretty uneventful. I'm glad I don't live in Hawaii, where they're dealing with erupting volcanoes. And we complain about a cold wind off the lake? At lease we don't have to worry about being covered in hot lava.
I guess there's a downside to all kinds of weather. In California, it hardly ever rains, but when it does, they aren't equipped to deal with the water. And they also have to put up with a lot of fires, plus deal with earthquakes.
So, we'll just have to tolerate the bad weather and appreciate the good when it happens. Every area has something to deal with.
► I found another cute story on Facebook this morning.
An old woman was sitting on the porch with her husband, sipping a glass of wine. “I love you so much,” she said. “In fact I doubt I could live without you. I know I don't even want to even try to get through a single day without you.”
Her husband is almost speechless. “Is that you talking or the wine?" he asked.
“It's me,” she replied, “talking to the wine.”
And here's another one I thought was kind of funny:
An old man went to the doctor complaining of a terrible pain in his leg.
“I am afraid it’s just old age," said the doctor. "There is nothing we can do about it.”
“That can’t be," fumed the old man. "You don’t know what you are doing.”
“How can you possibly know I am wrong?” countered the doctor.
“Well, it’s quite obvious,” the old man replied. "My other leg is fine, and it’s the exact same age!”
And with that, I hope everyone has a great week.
