Ludlow: Sunday was the first full day of Spring?

As this is being written, we have had three full days of spring and reasonably seasonal temperatures. However, weather forecasters are predicting 10 to 14 inches of snow beginning Wednesday afternoon and continuing into Thursday. I just hope it's Old Man Winter's last gasp and not a sign of things to come in April.

But whatever snow we do get, it shouldn't last too long at this time of the year. The temperatures should be back in the 40s next week, so hopefully that should take care of all the white stuff.

Quite often on Thursday nights at the Kewaunee Bowl, there is a dartball league at the same time. I was watching the activity last week and it reminded me of the only time I tried my hand at it many, many years ago.

We were at the Footbridge one night and someone challenged me to try throwing a dart. Now I had thrown darts overhand, but never underhanded.

In my only attempt, I threw the dart, it went straight up and stuck in the ceiling. Apparently I didn't let go of it soon enough. It never even came close to the board. I decided the game wasn't for me.

I've been watching the NCAA college basketball teams. The UWGB men's and women's teams both lost their first round games. But as of this writing, Wisconsin made it to the Sweet Sixteen. The Badgers, a seven seed, with a record of 22-12, meet Notre Dame, a six seed, with a record of 23-11. The game is Friday evening and I will be watching.

I didn't expect Wisconsin to beat Xavier on a buzzer-beater at the end of the game, but they did. It was very exciting. I really doubt the Badgers will make it to the Final Four, but you never know. It will be fun to watch them try, one game at a time.

This weekend, I think the Easter Bunny is going to have to borrow Santa's sleigh and his eight tiny reindeer to get around.

I heard a couple of humorous things the other day about aging, which tends to make some kind of forgetful. With Easter approaching, I had to share this one.

“The nice thing about being forgetful is that you can hide your own Easter Eggs.”

And another one is about an older couple planning a prearranged funeral. The cemetery salesman pointed out a plot he thought they would like. “You'll have a beautiful view of the swan pond,” he assured them.

The elderly man wasn't sold. “Unless you're including a periscope with my casket, I don't know how I'll enjoy it,” he quipped.
