A couple of months ago when the Packers were in the midst of a four-game losing streak, a lot of people were questioning the team and if some changes should be made, yours truly included. Their record was four and six with six games left to play, and it didn't look good.
Then Aaron Rodgers said the team could run the table, win their last six games and make the playoffs, which many thought was too optimistic. But guess what, the Packers did just that. Then the Giants came to Lambeau, and the Pack won the first playoff game. The next week they went to Dallas and squeaked out a win over the Cowboys and now are just one game from making it to the Super Bowl. Who would've thought that when things looked so bleak, they would go on an eight-game winning streak?
It's been a fun ride. Now if they can just go down to Atlanta and beat the Falcons, they'll make it to the big dance. However, chances are they would face the Patriots (if they get by Pittsburgh on Sunday night), and I doubt the Packers can beat Brady and his cohorts, but one never knows. Time will tell. By Sunday evening, we will know what's what.
The weather has sure been a mixed bag this week, with a rain/ice storm Monday night into Tuesday and then a January thaw. As this is written, the weather forecasters are predicting the thaw with temperatures in the 40s through the weekend. That should take care of a lot of the snow and ice around. But we all know it's January and we still have to get through February. Plus, March can be a mixed bag too, as spring approaches.
Did you hear this one?
“Poor old fool,” thought the well-dressed gentleman as he watched an old man fish in a puddle outside a pub. So he invited the old man inside for a drink. As they sipped their whiskeys, the gentleman thought he’d humor the old man and asked him how many he caught today? To which the old man replied, “You're the eighth.”
And then there was a mother and her little 3-year-old who was munching on a big juicy pickle. The little girl told her mom that she killed a fly. The mom got all excited and took the little girl into the bathroom and washed her hands very thoroughly. They went back out to the kitchen and the little girl resumed eating her pickle. Then the mom asked her how she killed the fly and the little girl said, “I hit it with my pickle.” Kids say the funniest things, don't they?
Have a great week everyone and enjoy the 40-plus temperatures while they last and before “Old Man Winter” makes a return to Wisconsin.
