Luxemburg-Casco Problem Solvers place fourth

The Luxemburg-Casco High School Community Problem Solvers team placed fourth in the senior division education category at the 2016 Future Problem Solving International (FPSPI) International Conference in East Lansing, Mich., in June.

Each year the extracurricular club picks a prevalent issue in the community and brainstorms and implements solutions to address it.  This year, the team included 10 members: Kirsten Massey, Nicole Haen, Alysha Ihlenfeld, Dakota Bader, Tori Jonet, Callie DeGroot, Ally Dart, Alexis Paye, Austin Gallenberger, and Ethan Nimmer along with three coaches. Sandy Ehren, Christy Vincent, and Heidi Bader.

This year’s project, titled “Looking Into Future Employment” or L.I.F.E., was focused on expanding career resources.  The group chose this project because they found that people of all ages may not be educated about the various resources to help them decide on a career.

To expand access to necessary resources about possible careers, the group established Luxemburg-Casco’s first Career Fair, where a variety of career paths were represented, allowing community members to learn more about career fields and gain contacts in an open environment.

The group was also involved in numerous activities at the schools throughout the year.  They participated in Literacy Night, Career Dress Up Day, Career Family Tree, Thrivent Financial’s College Planning Workshop, and Career Cafés.
