Luxemburg-Casco wins $25,000 grant

Luxemburg-Casco High School has been announced as the winner of Cellcom’s Project Innovate in the Lakeshore region. The school will receive $25,000 from Cellcom and Nsight Telservices for the purchase of classroom technology. In October, Cellcom invited high schools in Door, Kewaunee and Manitowoc counties to participate in the community voting challenge; seven schools chose to participate.

“We work hard to find ways to give back to education locally and love how communities come together to rally behind their schools during the challenge,” said Brighid Riordan, director of Public Affairs for Cellcom and Nsight Telservices. “Technology is a necessity in schools, but growing price tags and shrinking budgets can make these items less attainable. Project Innovate aims to bridge the gap and give schools the opportunity to meet their technological needs and enhance education overall. Improving schools is something that everyone in a community can get behind and we are proud to offer this support.”

Project Innovate winners were determined by the number of qualified votes cast for each school during the monthlong voting period, Oct. 19 through Nov. 20. The community voting program hinged on schools mobilizing their supporters.

"The LC community is very grateful for the opportunity provided by Cellcom and Nsight Telservices to win the $25,000 grand prize technology grant.  A donation of this size is extremely rare and will make an immediate impact in our high school,” said Adam Kurth, principal of Luxemberg-Casco High School. “Through the Project Innovate program, we hope to put a tablet in every classroom which will give each classroom access to educational apps, video capabilities and instant information and resources."

The second-place school will receive $5,000 with an announcement taking place next week.

This is the sixth year that Cellcom has held Project Innovate in partnership with Nsight Telservices. The companies have donated $325,000 to schools across its service area through the program.
