Luxemburg Village Board candidates

There are four candidates for three open positions on the Luxemburg Village Board. Voters may select up to three candidates. The top three vote-getters will be elected.

Number of years you have resided in the village:   44
Family:  First wife passed away from cancer after 23 years; we had two daughters. Remarried had three stepsons.
Past and present community or volunteer experience: Church usher, distributor of Communion. Secretary Holy Name Society; financial secretary Catholic Order of Foresters. Head of Knights of Columbus; two terms on KCEDC board. Volunteered three years St.Vincent Hospital, Fair Board, Golf Committee Chamber of Commerce, Music in Park for Chamber, head of Fair Parade 10 years, past president Chamber of Commerce,  currently vice president Chamber of Commerce.

What do you think are the two most important issues affecting the community: Luxemburg is a special place to me.  It is a great place to bring up a family.  To say about the important issue, with every village there are issues that come up all the time. I am the person to listen and try to solve the problem but not everything can be changed and you can't satisfy everybody but if you try to do your job it should come out.

WADE SICKLINGER

Number of years you have resided in the village: 5

Education: Graduate of Premontre High School; Green Bay; associate degree in marketing communications, Northeast Wisconsin Technical College, Green Bay; Bachelor of Arts in business administration, Lakeland College; Sheboygan.

Professional experience: 22-plus years working in manufacturing, 12 years spent in managing/leadership positions, two years working in project management, two years in procurement, two years in sales.

 Family: Married to Jenny (Tielens) Sicklinger and have two stepdaughters Lexie and Ally Dart.

Other elected office positions: None
Past and present community or volunteer positions: Coached Girls Luxemburg Community/Tournament Softball; Volunteered at St. Mary’s Church in Luxemburg for CCD classes; member of Ashwaubenon Retired Fire Co.

What do you think are the two most important issues affecting the community for which you are seeking office?  
The two most important issues affecting the community from my perspective:  Making sure the community has a good growth strategy. The Luxemburg community is in great position right now to build upon the framework for growth and still be able to hold onto its “small town” values for residents and local business. Along with a sound growth strategy and equally as important to me and hopefully the entire community is to promote and protect areas of recreation. We can improve upon our current community landscape and create more interest from our residents to be outdoors no matter your age. If we have a solid locally supported economy and experience community engagement by outdoor activity these issues become positive opportunities and sense of pride.

How would you bring your education and experience to address these issues?

My education and experience have given me the necessary skills to work within a team environment. I have also acquired the ability for improvement and to facilitate change in a positive manner. Using my interpersonal and communication skills I have proved to be effective in building and supporting goals for large groups and helped me understand Business and Financial matters. I can address these issues knowing the commitment and interest of our Community.

List other information that you think the public should know about you that prepares you to take on the responsibilities of this office?

I feel I am level-headed and willing to listen to all issues that will best serve the Community as a whole.

KEN TEBON (i)

Number of years you have resided in the municipality for which you are seeking office:  Been in area all my life.

Education:  St. Mary's School, Luxemburg High School.

Professional Experience:  Been self-employed 52 years.

Other elected office:  I am on the Luxemburg Village Board now.  I was on the County Board and was coroner for Kewaunee County.

Past and present community or volunteer experience:   Luxemburg Village Marshall, president of St. Mary's users, Algoma Chamber Board, 14 years Wisconsin restaurant association, Elder at St. John's Church in Luxemburg, trustee at St. John's Church, WIAA referee and umpire for 29 years.

What do you think are the two most important issues affecting the community for which you are seeking office:

Getting the Main Street project done, taking care of our water plant and our wells in the village.   I also would like to get new business to locate in Luxemburg.  I would like to see a motel here.

How would you bring your education and experience to address these issues:

Having been in business for many yars, I know how to balance a budget and work with people I have hired.

List other information that you think the public should know about you that prepares you to take on the responsibilities of this office:

Please vote for me because I am dedicated and know what it takes to make things work together. When people called me to see a project, I do go to meet them to see what can be done to come to a solution.  I am retired and have time to fix complaints.   I encourage everyone to vote.   It is your civic duty.
