Make it three in a row for Spartans at the ‘Battle’

SUAMICO – For the third year in a row, the Luxemburg-Casco wrestlers prevailed as the top team at Bay Port High’s Battle on the Bay, held Saturday, Sept. 9.

The Spartans scored 520 points as a team to take first place, well ahead of Bay Port in second place with 438.

Mukwonago rounded out the top three finishers, out of 32 teams in attendance, with 325.

L-C had three individual champions on Saturday, as 150-pounder Max Ronsman, Blakelee Bastien at 138 and Carson Neubert at 120 pounds all won their title bouts.

The 138 pound final was an all-Spartans contest with Bastien winning via decision over teammate Isaac Jerabek.

Carson Blohowiak, at 113 pounds, and Trace Schoenebeck, at 190 pounds, were third-place finishers in Suamico while Ezra Waege finished fourth at 215.

The Spartans had two wrestlers, Jake Jandrin at 106 and Caleb Delebreau at 144, finish fifth while Michael Bostwick, wrestling at 126 pounds, and Sam Schutz at 175 both finished in seventh.

NOTE: The top finish in Suamico comes just two days after the Spartans went 3-0 at the Fox Valley Triple Dual, defeating FVL 79-0, GB Preble 83-0 and Sturgeon Bay/Sevastopol 72-3.
