At what age did you start playing your main sport?
I started playing volleyball when I was 12.
Who introduced you to the sport?
I was introduced to volleyball through watching the older girls play at my high school.
Has this always been your favorite sport?
No, I have been playing softball since I was about four years old. My favorite sport depends on what time of the year it is to be completely honest.
How has balancing academics and athletics been different for you from your freshman year to your senior year?
I have really learned how to utilize my time and how to manage both school and sports simultaneously. It has gotten much easier to manage school this year compared to when I was a freshman.
What is your favorite part about this sport?
What about it has caused you to stick with it for this long?
I love the competitiveness of the sport and how happy it makes me to be able to play with my best friends.
Is there a professional athlete you look up to? If so, why?
I look up to Andi Jackson — a middle hitter at Nebraska — because of her fiery competitiveness and her ability to perform extremely well at such a high level.
What would you say is your biggest asset on the court?
My positive energy and ability to be a great teammate to the other girls.
What has been your most memorable experience in high school sports so far?
Going to state my senior year for volleyball.
How does it feel as a senior, to look back throughout high school and see your growth (as a person and athlete)?
Do you have any pre-match rituals/routines/superstitions?
Yes, I put all my gear on my left side first. I put on my left knee pad, left shoe, and then tie my left shoelace all before I repeat it on my right side. My entire volleyball team also sings hallway songs based on the “Pitch Perfect Riff Off” in the hallways before every game.
Do you take any extra steps to prepare for a big match/game/meet, outside of regular practices?
I make sure to watch film on myself and on the opposing team before every game. I also never watch the other team during warmups to help calm my nerves before games.
Any memorable coaches or teammates you’d like to give a shout out to?
I would like to thank all of my teammates and coaches that I have had throughout the years for always encouraging and pushing me to be the very best person and athlete I can be. Shout out to all of my volleyball teammates, I love them all and they mean the world to me.
Any hobbies outside of sports?
I love anything that involves being outside and spending time with my family.
Favorite song?
Sports drinks like Gatorade and Powerade or water?
Both! I usually keep one of each with me at all times.
Future plans?
I plan on going to college and majoring in biology with hopes to continue to PA school afterwards….maybe.
