At what age did you start playing your main sport?

I began playing basketball competitively when I was about seven or eight, but my family often jokes that I first touched a basketball straight out of the womb.

Who introduced you to the sport?

My family introduced me to the sport; my sister, who is seven years older than I am, played growing up, so I’ve been watching basketball since I was a baby.

Has this always been your favorite sport?

Yes, basketball has always been my favorite sport. When I was little, I would even take a basketball into the bathroom and dribble it around the toilet!

What aspects of your sport do you value the most?

I value team togetherness because if one player is struggling, it affects the entire team and the opposing team can capitalize on that.

In your opinion, what is the best part about being on a team?

The best part about being on a team is the team. There’s something truly special about being together and working toward a common goal.

How has balancing academics and athletics been different for you from your freshman year to your senior year?

Academically, I didn’t struggle much. However, I did experience a significant jump between my junior and senior years when I transitioned from NWTC classes to advancing to UW-Green Bay. I learned I needed to focus more due to the limited time I had to study.

What is the most challenging aspect of your sport that most people don’t realize?

Many people don’t realize how mentally demanding the game of basketball is. There are so many little things to do. For example, missing a box-out can lead to an offensive rebound and putback, which can completely change the momentum of the game.

How do you deal with the pressure of a big game?

I try to maintain a routine, so when big games come up, I have something familiar to rely on. When I start to feel nervous, I just act like I’m not, because letting nervousness spiral won’t help my performance.

If you could instantly master any other sport, which would you choose and why?

If I could choose any sport, I’d probably decide on flag football. I always had a lot of fun playing it for homecoming.

Outside of sports, how do you enjoy spending your free time?

I enjoy spending quality time with my friends and sister. I like being outdoors, going for walks or sitting by a campfire. I also enjoy taking care of my house plants and building terrariums.

What is the most adventurous thing you’ve ever done?

The most adventurous thing I’ve done was going out west with my classmates during my senior year for 11 days without phones and camping in various national parks.

What is one thing you’ve always wanted to try, but have never gotten the chance to yet?

One thing on my bucket list is to snorkel in the Great Barrier Reef.

What is one song in your playlist that gets you pumped up before a game?

We’d often play “Who Let the Dogs Out” in the locker room or run out to at-home games. It just got us to laugh and relax a bit before games.

Favorite game day beverage?

Water.

What is something you’re excited to experience after high school (sports or in general)?

I’m super excited to play college basketball at Aurora University and be part of a team.

Future Plans? (college, major, career, etc.)

At Aurora, I plan to double major in criminal justice and human-animal sciences. With these degrees, I look forward to a career as a game warden.
