Parent’s names: James and Lindsey Hudson
Siblings: Lily Hudson
Position: I play first base and I pitch.
Career highlight: Making it to the state championship game for baseball in my junior year.

At what age did you start playing your sport(s)?

I started playing baseball at the age of eight, and I began running cross-country my freshman year of high school.

Who introduced you to your sport(s)?

My parents.

What is your favorite sport?

Baseball.

How has balancing academics and athletics been different for you from your freshman year to your senior year?

During my freshman year of high school, there wasn’t much of a struggle to balance school and athletics together, but as I have progressed through high school, classes have gotten harder and more difficult to manage. Learning to use my time effectively, especially during the school day, has been a big help for this.

What is your favorite part about your sport(s)? What about it has caused you to stick with it for this long?

The thing that has caused me to stick with my sports for this long is the brotherhoods that I have formed along the way. The vast majority of the friendships I have now stemmed from being teammates.

Is there a professional athlete you look up to? If so, who?

I look up to Tiger Woods because of his dominance, competitiveness and mental toughness.

What would you say is your biggest asset on the court/field?

I think my greatest asset on the field is my coachability. It is something that I have been praised for as I’ve grown up, and I think it is something that has allowed me to grow in my athletic career.

What has been your most memorable experience in high school sports so far?

My most memorable experience in high school sports was making it to state with my baseball team last year.

How does it feel as a senior, to look back throughout high school and see your growth (as a person and athlete)?

As a senior looking back at my high school career, I am extremely proud of the progress I have made not only as an athlete, but as a person, too. There are many valuable lessons I’ve learned from walking the halls of Kewaunee High School that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

Do you have any pre-game rituals/routines/superstitions?

I like to visualize the result that I want before every game/race.

Do you take any extra steps to prepare for a big game, outside of regular training?

I like to lift weights, stretch, run or take extra reps to clear my head before a big game.

What has been your favorite experience with being a senior this year?

My favorite experience as a senior this year is the full-circle feeling after doing something for the last time. It was always sad losing an older teammate or friend who graduated before you, but now that I am experiencing it the other way, it is cool to see the younger friends who are sad about you graduating.

Any memorable coaches or teammates you’d like to give a shout out to?

One teammate I would like to shout out is Christopher Cullen. He was the captain of the cross-country team my sophomore year, and our friendship was a big reason that I decided to stick with cross-country all four years of high school.

Any hobbies outside of sports?

I enjoy golfing, playing pickleball and playing games with friends.

Favorite food?

Steak.

Favorite movie/TV show?

“The Big Bang Theory.”

Future plans? (college, major, career, etc.)

I plan to attend either the University of Wisconsin-Madison or the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities to pursue a career in data science.
