At what age did you start playing your sport(s)?

Six.

Who introduced you to your sport(s)?
My parents.

What is your favorite sport?
Basketball.

How has balancing academics and athletics been different for you from your freshman year to your senior year?

As a freshman and sophomore, things felt pretty easy — since I mainly had core classes, managing everything came naturally. However, starting my junior year, when I began taking more college courses and started working as a CNA at the nursing home, I had to really focus on balancing all my responsibilities. Over time, I learned how to prioritize, plan ahead and use my time more efficiently. I became better at staying organized and managing my schedule. By senior year, I’ve developed a routine that allows me to succeed both in the classroom, as a CNA and as an athlete. The challenges haven’t disappeared, but I’ve become much more confident in my ability to handle them, and I’m proud of the balance I’ve achieved.

What is your favorite part about your sport(s)? What about it has caused you to stick with it for this long?
One of my favorite parts of being an athlete is seeing yourself improve. Also the competitiveness, there is nothing like a game day energy! Competing pushes you to levels you’d never reach on your own. What made me stick with playing all these years mostly is the passion I have for the game and the life lessons I have learned from some amazing coaching and teammates.

Is there a professional athlete you look up to? If so, who?

Michael Jordan for his competitive mindset. He represents ultimate confidence and winning mentality.

What would you say is your biggest asset on the court/field?
My ability to attack the basket and knock down shots.

What has been your most memorable experience in high school sports so far?

Becoming the all-time leading scorer in school history. Achieving this milestone is something I’m incredibly proud of because it reflects not just my individual effort, but also the support from my teammates and coaches over the years. Breaking the record was a moment I’ll never forget and knowing that I’ve made a lasting impact on the program is truly special and motivates me to keep giving my best both on and off the court.

How does it feel as a senior, to look back throughout high school and see your growth (as a person and athlete)?

Looking back at freshman year, I was nervous and unsure of myself, uncertain about how I would fit in and what role I would play on the team. Over the years, I realized that the losses taught me more than the wins, and that every hard practice truly mattered. Through those experiences, I have matured, gained confidence, maintained a positive mindset and become a leader my teammates can look up to. As an athlete, I’ve become more disciplined and resilient. I’ve learned that success isn’t just about talent, but about consistently showing up, putting in the effort every day and being a supportive teammate. My confidence in my abilities has grown, and I’ve come to understand that leadership is about setting an example for others, not just winning games.

On a personal level, I’ve grown more self-aware and open-minded. I’ve built lasting friendships, learned from different perspectives and discovered what truly matters to me. Looking back, I’m proud of how far I’ve come and grateful for all the experiences, both good and bad, that have shaped who I am today.

Do you have any pre-game rituals/routines/superstitions?
Drink an energy drink.

Do you take any extra steps to prepare for a big game, outside of regular training?

What has been your favorite experience with being a senior this year?
My favorite experience as a senior this year was our class trip out west. It was such an unforgettable experience because we got to explore new places, try new things and spend quality time together before graduation. Whether it was the long bus rides, sightseeing or just laughing with friends, it brought our class closer and gave us memories I’ll always hold onto.

Any memorable coaches or teammates you’d like to give a shout out to?

Coaches Schneider and Vandervest for always believing in me and pushing me to be the athlete I am today. Also my teammates I will always remember the time we had together and making senior year so memorable.

Any hobbies outside of sports?
Fishing, hunting, spending time with family and friends.

Favorite food?
Steak.

Favorite movie/TV show?
“All American.”
