How long have you been playing soccer?
I have been playing soccer for six years now
What position do you play?
Either center midfield or forward for most of my career.
Soccer matches are long, tough events. Winning must be exhilarating but how do you mentally deal with working so hard for 80 minutes only to come up short?
When the 80 minutes is over, and the other team wins, it is always hard to not hang your head in defeat. As a player, I have learned to let losses go and focus on the next games. It will always be difficult to not let losses get in your head and affect you mentally, but the more you play the more you learn to move on.
What was your most memorable moment on the soccer field as a high school athlete so far?
My most memorable moment as a player was scoring my first goal last year. The team and the fans all cheering is a feeling you can’t shake
What goals have you set for yourself this soccer season?
My goals this year are to win a regional game, be 1st team all conference, and lead our team in scoring.
How do you feel about playing on a weather-beaten, muddy field? Do you enjoy it or does it just make everything about the game miserable?
I love playing in the downpour and when the field is muddy. As a player you’re able to slide tackle easier and have more fun on the field. Everyone on the teams energy is usually up as it’s hard to be tired when you’re getting rained on
Do you play any other sports?
I also play basketball and baseball which I’ve been playing all my life and enjoy.
What are your plans for after high school?
After high school, I plan on getting my bachelors in criminal justice. I don’t know which college yet, but I’m excited for the next part of my schooling journey.
