At what age did you start track and field?
I started track when I was in fifth grade and have been doing it every year since. I missed my eighth grade year though because of the coronavirus.
How has balancing academics and athletics been different for you from your freshman year to your senior year?
When I was a freshman, it was a lot harder to balance my academics and athletics, because I had a full day of school and then practice after school. But now that I am a senior, it is a lot easier to balance my academics and athletics because I do not have a full school day. I work a job in the morning and then go into school for three classes.
Can you tell us a little bit about how life has been in high school being a multi-sport athlete, and what sports you all play?
Life as a multi-sport athlete has been very busy. I say it’s busy because I have practice every day after school that takes up a lot of time and energy. Even though it’s exhausting, it is very rewarding and fun because you are with your friends and doing an activity you love to do.
How does it feel as a senior, to look back throughout high school and see your growth?
It feels very rewarding to be able to look back at where I started and see how far I’ve come. To look back at all of the accomplishments and highlights not just of my sports career either, but as a person too is just amazing to see. I never thought I would have come this far while still in high school.
Are there any memorable coaches or teammates you’d like to give a shout out to?
One coach that I have been with my whole life is my special teams coach in football and also my head track coach. He has pushed me to be the best I can while also giving me the confidence to not be afraid of failing. I would also like to shout out all of my teammates in all of the sports I have been a part of because they have always pushed me to get better and made the sports I have been in more enjoyable.
Future plans?
I am fully committed to play football and track at St. Norbert College. I am undecided on a specific major yet but it will be somewhere in the business field.
What are your other hobbies outside of sports and school?
Some of my other hobbies outside of school and sports is to ski and snowmobile in the winter. Golfing and working are my other hobbies that I do in the summer.
