One down, four to go for Packers' playoff hopes

Posted

The Green Bay Packers met the first challenge last Sunday by beating Tampa. Just four more wins needed to have a chance at the NFL playoffs. I don't think the team can make the playoffs, but who knows? Anything can happen on any given Sunday.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers won't make it back this week, but maybe the next week. Hopefully the Packers can handle the lowly Cleveland Browns this Sunday.

But, then it gets a lot tougher with Carolina followed by Minnesota and Detroit, the last two being NFC North division games. However it ends up, backup quarterback Brett Hundley gained some valuable experience for his future. I thought he showed a lot of improvement.

I just hope that if the coaches do play Rodgers in the last two or three games that he doesn't get hurt again.

• Boy, did we have a big swing in temperatures this week.

Monday, it was in the 50s and Tuesday, it was windy and in the 20s. Too much change in 24 hours for me.  All I know is that I don't like it and am sure it will get much worse before it improves.

I have to keep reminding myself that this is December and we are in Wisconsin. Old Man Winter is just getting started and there's a lot more to come. So suck it up Buttercup, and get used to it.

All I know, and I've said this numerous times, is that the older you get, the colder you get. And I can certainly attest to that, as I sit here wearing a long-sleeve fleece shirt with a long-sleeve turtleneck under it, and the thermostat says it's 74 degrees in here. But, it's quite windy outside and I think that makes a difference.

• I found this on the internet and, with Christmas approaching, I thought it was appropriate.

It was the day after Christmas at a church in San Francisco. Pastor Mike was looking at the nativity scene outside when he noticed the baby Jesus was missing from the figures.

Immediately, Pastor Mike turned toward the church to call the police. But as he was about to do so, he saw little Jimmy with a red wagon, and in the wagon was the figure of the little infant Jesus.

Pastor Mike walked up to Jimmy and said, "Well, Jimmy, where did you get the little infant?"

Jimmy replied, "I got him from the church."

"And why did you take him?" asked the pastor

With a sheepish smile, Jimmy said, "Well, about a week before Christmas I prayed to little Lord Jesus. I told him if he would bring me a red wagon for Christmas, I would give him a ride around the block in it."

Have a great week, everyone.
