Owen W. Berg, 88, Sturgeon Bay, passed away Tuesday, September 12, 2023 at the Door County Medical Center after a battle with liver cancer.He was born August 6, 1935 on the Berg home farm in the Town of Ahnapee to Oscar and Ellen (Larsen) Berg.Owen worked on the home farm, but also worked part time at the Sturgeon Shipyards.He then worked on construction for a few years and then for 23 years he worked at Kewaunee Engineering as a welder and enjoyed his employment there.After he retired in 2000, he enjoyed keeping up his beautiful yard, checking on his many bird houses north of the creek, helping out the neighbors, going south for the winter and reading farm and nature magazines.Owen was interested in local and world politics.He was a lifelong member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Algoma.He is survived by his five sisters Doris Beetz, El Sobrante, CA; Bonnie Sturchio, Sopchoppy, FL; Marion Hafeman, Algoma; Venice Gigstead, Edina. MN; and Beverly Deprey, Milwaukee, WI; many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Marvel and his five brothers-in-law. There will be a gathering for Owen, Tuesday, September 26, 2023 from 10:00 AM until the time of the Memorial Service at 11:00 AM with Rev. John Moll officiating.
