By Jo Mahlum Contributing Writer KEWAUNEE – Photographer Jackie Kinjerski, with the sister companies Ambient and Pawbient Photography, recently made an exciting new expansion into a bigger space. On Jan. 1, Kinjerski upgraded to a 1,200-square-foot studio in downtown Kewaunee. She said that she is one of three photographers that have now owned that space, adding that she had her own senior pictures taken in that building “back in the day” ¬— a full circle moment. For the past 11 years, Jackie has been working high schools seniors to capture those smiles right before the students embrace a new chapter in their lives. It wasn’t until COVID-19 that Jackie decided to start working with dogs. This new idea came from a spur of the moment photo shoot for a friend who had just brought home a new puppy. When the photos came out to the owners liking, Jackie thought she might be on to something. Now at Pawbient Photography they do a model program every month where they shoot pictures of three different kinds of breeds. The owners can bring their furry friends into the space and get them acquainted with the toys, treats and props. “One thing we strive for here is just providing high end product and an absolutely unforgettable experience,” Kinjerski added. With photographing dogs that can come as a challenge, but Jackie does her best to provide the best studio space for the dogs to be comfortable. The temperature in the studio is set at 65 degrees so that way the dogs don’t overheat during the photo session. She understands that the dogs are already excited as they are in a brand new environment, so she does her best to create a comfortable space for the dogs to be themselves. After photographing pictures of hundreds of dogs, Jackie says that the best things to do to get the perfect pictures are to bring your dogs favorite toys and snacks from home. Kinjerski said that sometimes the comfort that comes from bringing the favorite toy from home helps capture the personality the owner see’s in their dog. The smile the dogs have while playing with their favorite toy can often match their owners when they get to take home the perfect picture of their favorite furball.
