AHNAPEE – Police are investigating the deaths of two people found Friday inside a Kewaunee County home.
The Kewaunee County Sheriff's Department received a request about 7:45 p.m. Friday to conduct a welfare check at the home in the town of Ahnapee. The caller told police they were concerned because the caller had not heard from an acquaintance who lived at the home for a few days, according to the sheriff's department.
Deputies went to the home and tried to contact the residents, but got no response. Officers then looked through the window and saw two people lying on the floor. Deputies went inside the house and determined the 71-year-old man and 56-year-old woman were dead, according to the sheriff's department.
No one else was in the home at the time. The sheriff's department said there is no safety threat to the community.
The Wisconsin Department of Criminal Investigation is assisting the sheriff's department with the investigation.
