CASCO – The annual Casco Thresheree returned for its sixth year, taking place on Aug. 29 and 30. The event showcased local Kewaunee County agricultural heritage, featuring antique farming equipment, working historical demonstrations and a classic antique tractor pull. Organizers designed the weekend as a fun-filled experience mixed with history, aiming to revive old memories, preserve farming heritage and teach new generations about traditional agricultural practices.
Throughout the weekend, visitors observed interactive demonstrations that highlighted historical farm techniques. These included live threshing of oats, blacksmithing, sawmill operations and horse-drawn fieldwork. Additional demonstrations included grinding corn into silage and using a historical hay press to transform loose straw into bales of hay. Attendees also viewed a hay loader, wagon and team of horses in action.
Evening and morning events added to the excitement. On Friday night, the schedule featured champion lawn tractor pulls, followed by an antique tractor pull held on Sunday morning.
In addition to the wide array of machinery on display, this year’s event specifically featured vintage Case tractors. In recent years, the event has also featured Oliver Farm Equipment and John Deere tractors.
