The Luxemburg-Casco varsity girls softball team opened the season Tuesday with a four inning 15-0 non-conference win at Valders.
Winning pitcher Cassie Schiltz dominated the mound. Schiltz, a freshman, threw a one-hitter and recorded all 12 outs of the game via strikeout.
Valders' lone hit by Rachel Dietrich came with two outs in the final inning of the game. The only other Vikings base runners were on a pair of walks.
Leading the 12-hit attack for the Spartans were Marian Tebon, who went 3 for 3 with three doubles and four RBI, Cassie Dart, 3 for 4 with a triple, home run, three RBI and three runs scored. Madyen Thayse went 2 for 4 with two runs scored and Taylor Cravillion, 2 for 3 with a double.
