After losing two of their first three games to tough non-conference opponents, Kewaunee looks to be firing on all cylinders.

Breanna Riha has missed the first eight games as she continues to rehab from a knee injury. The Packerland Conference’s softball player of the year is also a key part of the Storm basketball team.

“She’s biting at the chops,” said Kewaunee coach Lynn Geier. “She’s rehabbing well, and has to test out before she can come back. She’s getting ready, but getting those basketball legs back takes a little time.”

Meanwhile, the Storm has been able to rotate in more players in her absence, which should help depth down the road.

Kewaunee beat Wrightstown Monday at the Kress Center, 67-37. Jade Kroll scored 25 points, including a trio of first-half threes, while Summer Walechka and Gabby Stangel each added 13 and Braelyn Chevalier 10.

“The girls attacked well,” Geier said. “Offensively, we gave up too many rebounds. They were in position, but it seemed like they didn’t want to get physical sometimes. They have to work harder on that.”

Meanwhile, Brianna Bray hit five three-pointers and scored 23 to lead Luxemburg-Casco to a 45-27 win over Algoma Dec. 22. Claire Gerdmann and Jadyn Nellis each had eight points.

Four nights earlier, the Wolves beat Sturgeon Bay 55-25. Nellis and Therese Gerdmann each had 10 points, Claire Gerdmann and Reagan Schneider each eight and Ella Severinsen seven.
