LUXEMBURG – The Spartans’ volleyball team will face Fox Valley Lutheran for the Division 2 Regional Final on Saturday in Appleton following a 25-11, 25-8, 25-12 victory against Winneconne on Thursday.
“I told the girls last Tuesday that we wanted the opportunity to play FVL and it would have been easy to look past tonight and not be focused enough,” said L-C head coach Jeff Frey. “But they came in focused and energized. I loved the focus they had tonight. We’re hungry for Saturday night but we really stayed in the fight tonight, focused on the job at hand."
Aubrey Frey had 10 kills and 10 digs for the Spartans; Jacinda Bennett had eight big kills; Alayna Deprez had 30 assists, five digs and four aces and Payton Kaminski finished with 18 digs.
“We’re really excited, ready to go on and play FDL,” Jacinda Bennett said after the win. “We’re communicating well as a team and we’re just excited to see how far we can go.”
CEDAR GROVE – After defeating Sheboygan Area Lutheran 25-17, 10-25, 25-16, 25-21 on Tuesday at home, the Algoma Wolves’ season came to an end following a 19-25 12-25, 24-26 loss to the Cedar Grove Belgium Rockets on Thursday, Oct. 19.
Ryley Zimmerman had 10 kills, 13 digs and three aces; MyLee Jones had 10 kills, 12 digs and two aces; Faith Gerdmann had three kills and three solo blocks; Hannah N.ell had 21 assists and Olivia Cabino finished with 23 digs and two aces.
VALDERS – The Storm saw its season come to an end on Tuesday in the first round of regional play, falling to the Vikings 22-25, 22-25, 21-25.
