Kewaunee improved to 7-0 in the Packerland — 12-0 overall — in a convincing 65-44 win over Algoma Tuesday night.
The Storm, one of three unbeatens in Div. 4, are ranked third in the state behind Marathon and Bonduel in the MaxPreps rankings, and fourth in this week’s Bound Wisconsin media poll.
Facing a Wolves team that beat them 69-47 at Algoma last February, Kewaunee came out hot while Algoma made just one field goal in the first seven-plus minutes. The Storm got a combined 42 points from sophomores Diesel Bosdeck (18), Mason Kovacs (15) and Dane Harrell (nine), along with nine more from senior guard Avery Jerabek.
The win snapped Algoma’s 15-game home winning streak dating to last January. The Wolves, playing without star guard Braeden Leist, fell to 5-2 in the conference, 10-4 overall.
Sophomore Griffin Robinson scored a career-high 15 for Algoma. Parker Lischka added 10 and Charlie Prokash nine.
The Storm are coming off a 67-34 victory over Southern Door. Dane Harrell led Kewaunee with a double-double of 16 points and 11 rebounds, along with one assist and two steals.
Conor Kilgore added 14 points, six rebounds, four assists, three steals and a block, while Baylor Elliott contributed 10 points and six rebounds. The Wolves are also coming off a win, defeating Gibraltar 52-37. Lischka led Algoma with 22 points. Lane Cochart and Charlie Prokash each scored nine.
Meanwhile, Luxemburg-Casco lost to Menasha, 66-59. Tatem Klaubauf led the way with 16 points, seven steals, five rebounds and five assists. Ethan Ropson had a dozen points, Mason Burmeister 11 and Mason Trimberger 10.
The Spartans also dropped a 60-46 decision to Oconto Falls in the past week, but rebounded for a 63-51 win over Two Rivers.
