Southern Door swept the boys and girls Packerland Conference championships Monday at Oconto, the Eagle girls scoring 198 to runner-up Kewaunee’s 154.
The Storm’s Hannah Miller was a three-time winner, and teammates Chyanne Robinson, Penelope Gerold and Mitchell Boeder each won two firsts.
Miller, a senior, covered the 400-meter run in 58.20, the 800 in 2:22.33 — 1.58 seconds ahead of junior teammate Noelie El Kout, who placed second — and the 1600 in 5:13.10. El Kout was third in 5:26.99.
Miller also placed second in the triple jump with a total of 34 feet, 1.5 inches, while sophomore Kaylyn Martin was fifth in the 800 at 2:33.34.
Robinson won the discus (118-1), and was part of the winning 4x100 relay team (53.35) that also included Peyton Pagel, Gerold and Alison Kuehl. Robinson was fourth in shot put, while Kuehl was second in the 300 hurdles (52.31) and fifth in the 100 hurdles. Kamber Tulachka was fifth in the 300 hurdles.
The 4x400 relay team of Kaylyn Martin, Gerold, Addison Kudick and Natalie Miller won that event in a time of 4:27.27. The 4x800 team (Martin, Milli Paul, Elynor Heidel, and El Kout) finished second in 10:48.57, and 4x200 finished third in 1:55.85. Team members were Kudick, Pagel, Tulachka and Gerold.
Olivia Peot was third in the high jump (4-9), while Natalie Miller finished third in pole vault (8-6) and fourth in long jump (15-2.5).
Meanwhile, Boeder won the shot with a personal best throw 51 feet, 1.25 inches, and the discus at 155-6. Teammate Garret Lefevre was second in disc at 146-10.
Junior Joey Schlies placed in four events, earning a second with teammates Trevor Gauthier, Gage Vlies and Robin Kunesh in the 4x800 relay (9:05.21), a fourth in the 800 (2:09.30), fourth in the 4x400 with teammates Vlies, Gauthier and Brayden Myers (3:47.89), and fifth in the triple jump (37-7). Bret Witcpalek was fifth in the 110 hurdles (17.64).
The Peshtigo boys were runners-up, while the Bulldog girls placed third.
Algoma junior Estella Marrero won the girls pole vault, clearing 9 feet, six inches, a half-foot ahead of Southern Door’s Nikaya Trusova.
Fellow Wolves’ junior Jacob Blahnik had a personal-best 53.69 in the 400 meters to take second place, just 1.15 seconds behind winner Liam Smith of Peshtigo.
The boys relay teams did well, led by a third place finish for the 4x400 team of Jack Meverden, Cooper Fay, Aiden Moen and Blahnik in 3:46.91. The 4x200 relay (Meverden, Joey Cabino, James Solchenberger and Lane Cochart) finished fourth in 1:40.04, as did the 4x800 team of Owen Skorczewski, Chance Rader, Brayden Brumm and Blahnik (9:39.68). Finishing fifth was the 4x100 team of Meverden, Fay, Cabino and Luis Huerta in 47.83.
Braden Crew was third in high jump (6’0), Cooper Fay third in pole vault (12-6) and Ethan Melotte (48-3.5”) and Lane Cochart (47-5) third and fourth in shot put. Moen was fifth in the 300 hurdles in 47.13.
The girls 4x400 relay team of Madelyn Borths, Tessa LeBotte, Mackenzie Stewart and Sophie Ramirez finished fourth in 5:52.30. Taking fifths for the Wolves were Therese Gerdmann in the shot (32-4) and Reagan Schneider in the high jump (4-2).
At the North Eastern Conference championships in Oconto Falls last week, the Spartan boys placed third and the L-C girls fourth. Little Chute won the boys’ title, Freedom the girls’.
Claire DuChateau was a double winner for the Spartans: the 1600-meter run in 5:21.79, and the 3200 in 11:30.98. On the boys’ side, teammate Ezra Treml placed second in both events, finishing in 4:42.78 and 10:03.86, respectively.
The Spartans’ 4x400-meter relay team of Brady Kinnard, Levi Kinnard, Brenden Deering and Jonathan Salentine won that event in a blistering 3:29.43.
L-C’s 4x800 girls placed second in 10:45.01. The team consisted of Greta Annoye, Adeline Treml, Madison Frank and Emily Tassoul.
Ana Wolfert was second in the triple jump at 33 feet, 11.5 inches, while Sienna Blohowiak placed third in the 400 (1:02.95) and fourth in the 100 (13.33). Ali Jansen was fourth in the 300 hurdles and high jump, and Drake Wolf fourth in the triple jump.
Regionals May 26
Algoma, Kewaunee and Southern Door will all be at the Div. 3 Hilbert Regional Tuesday, while L-C is at a D-2 regional in Little Chute.
Local individuals advancing to the sectionals will go to Chilton next Friday (D-2), or back to Hilbert (D-3). The state meet is June 5-6 in La Crosse.
