KEWAUNEE – The Kewaunee boys suffered a non-conference setback on Thursday, Dec. 21 as Kiel came to town and handed them an 84-50 loss, putting an end to Kewaunee’s three-game win streak.
Thomas Stangel turned in 20 points, five rebounds, three assists, two blocks and a steal while Connor Kilgore added nine points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
MISHICOT – The Algoma boys closed out the first half of play on Thursday, Dec. 21 ahead of MIshicot 39-9 on their way to a 64-35 road win that brings the Wolves to improve to 5-3 overall.
Parker Lischka had 16 points to lead the Wolves in points scored, to go along with his four rebounds, four steals, three blocks and an assist. Grant Vandervest had 14 points, six boards, five assists and a steal while Chase Romdenne turned in 13 points, three boards, two assists and four steals.
FREEDOM – The Luxemburg-Casco boys fell behind early against Freedom on Thursday, Dec. 21 and were unable to get back into it as a 39-19 halftime deficit turned into a 77-40 loss.
The Spartans found themselves down 12-2 in the early minutes of the game and didn’t see their first solid possession until a nice look from Josh Parins to Lance Cherovsky down low made it 16-7 Freedom.
Minutes later, L-C cut the lead in half at 20-10 but the Irish rattled off 10 unanswered to reassert their big advantage.
The Spartans battled Freedom over the final minutes of the first half, outscoring the home team 9-7, but the Irish still enjoyed a 20-point advantage heading into the locker room.
Cherovsky was the Spartans’ high scorer with 14 points to go along with his eight rebounds and four blocks. Parins finished with eight points, an assist and a board while Steelen Olson turned in six points, three boards and a steal.
