Third Annual Student Showcase at Kewaunee High School

Posted

KEWAUNEE – The Third Annual Student Showcase at Kewaunee High School will take place on Wednesday, May 6. This event is a public celebration of the diverse skills and creative achievements of students throughout the Kewaunee School District.

“Whether you have students or not, come and see the work that we’re doing,” art teacher Erin LaBonte said. “This is something different to celebrate these students’ achievements.”

The evening will begin at 5:30 p.m. in the Plantico Theater with a welcome and a preview of the upcoming school play. Following the opening, visitors are invited to explore exhibits and performances throughout the high school. Maps and schedules will be available to help guests navigate the various displays.
There will be a wide variety of student exhibitions and activities, including art demonstrations, forensics presentations and tech ed displays. Music will also be featured, with performances by the band and choir, and senior artist talks providing insight into the creative process. The Storm Store will also be open for attendees interested in shopping.

Food and refreshments will be available through several student-led initiatives. FCCLA members will present a display of their projects and host a bake sale to fund their trip to the National Conference. Additionally, the Music Boosters will host a food sale featuring Little Caesar’s pizza.

This event also kicks off the FFA’s annual plant sale. While flowers are also available on May 8, 9 and 13, the best selection can be found on this opening day. Attendees can also participate in several make-and-take crafts like fidgets, keychains and buttons. A pinata display, created by Advanced Spanish students, will feature a live breaking with prizes inside.

Guests will also have the opportunity to participate in a building-wide activity — visit each room, collect stamps and be entered for a chance to win a prize.
