Three Kewaunee County supervisors to step down

Posted

Three county supervisors will not be seeking re-election to the Kewaunee County board this spring. Robert J. Garfinkel from District 5, Kenneth J. Tebon from District 6 and Bruce H. Heidmann from District 15 all have filed noncandidacy papers with the Kewaunee County Clerk's office.

Heidmann said he was not seeking reelection because of health issues.  He has served on the county's Highway/Solid Waste Committee and Personnel, Advisory and Legislative Committee.

"It takes a lot of time if you do your job right," said Tebon, who said that he was not seeking re-election because he wanted to spend more time with his family.

"My grandkids are playing ball, and I want to get to the games,"  he said. Tebon served on the county's Promotion and Recreation and Human Services committees, as well as the Aging and Disability Resource Center Board.

Garfinkel, who has served on the County Board for 10 years, said he was retiring because of health issues.

"I will sure miss it," he said.   Garfinkel served on the Land and Water Conservation Committee, Library Board and UW-Extension Committee.

March will be the last board meeting for the three county supervisors.  The new County Board will be sworn in for the April meeting.
