Registrations will be taken over the next three Saturdays for families who wish to receive donated toys from the Toys for Tots program in Kewaunee County.
Also, boxes for the community to drop off new and unwrapped toys to help brighten the holidays for local families in need will be out across the county by the middle of the month.
Toys for Tots is a mission of the United States Marine Corps Reserve. In Kewaunee County, it’s being coordinated by Sheriff Matt Joski.
“This is a great program and it’s nice to see all of the smiles around the holidays,” Joski, a former Marine, said. “Last year, we distributed about 1,500 toys to approximately 250 children, serving nearly 100 families in Kewaunee County.”
Toys will be collected at dozens of businesses across Kewaunee County from mid-November through Dec. 15. Distribution for those toys will take place from noon to 2 p.m. Dec. 16 at Kewaunee Grade School.
Families who wish to receive toys must register. Those registering should bring photo IDs for all adults in the household, proof of current address (i.e., most recent utility bill or rental lease) and proof of birth for all children ages 16 and under in the household (such as birth certificates, birth announcements, immunization records). Also, families that might need a translator should bring one to their registration session.
Registrations will be taken from 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 4 at the Kewaunee Public Library, 822 Juneau St.;
10 a.m. to noon Nov. 11 at the Algoma Public Library, 406 Fremont St.;
and 10 a.m. to noon Nov. 18 in the Village of Luxemburg Municipal Building, 206 Maple St.
