Brett Paulsen continues to dazzle on the mound and excel on the plate for unbeaten Kewaunee, the state’s top-ranked Div. 3 team in the Wisconsin Baseball Coaches Association weekly poll.

The Storm improved to 15-0 after five more wins in the past week. Unbeaten Random Lake is number two and twice-beaten Brillion in the third spot. Ten other D-3 teams have one loss. Gibraltar, which Kewaunee doubled up on last week, is ranked 14th in Div. 4.

Paulsen had 16 strikeouts and two walks in six innings at Southern Door last Friday, with Jackson Walecka finishing up the no-hitter with two strikeouts in the seventh. He also had three hits in the Storm’s 10-0 win. Waylon Delain, Diesel Bosdeck, Blake Temme and Micah Vanness each had two hits.

In game two, Noah Hudson earned the win. He allowed three hits in a 15-2, five-inning win. Dane Harrell was 3-for-3 with four RBIs. He doubled and homered. Connor Kilgore and Bosdeck each had a pair of hits.

A day earlier, resuming a game suspended from April 9, the Storm finished off NEW Lutheran 13-0. Bosdeck and Peyton Schaller each had two hits. Delain got the win, Hudson had two strikeouts in an inning and Bosdeck four “Ks” in two innings on the mound.

On the girls side, three area teams are all ranked ninth in this week’s Wisconsin Fastpitch Coaches Association poll: Denmark in Div. 2, Southern Door in Div. 3 and Bonduel in Div. 4. Denmark edged L-C 3-1 last Thursday; the Spartans (14-1 coming in) hosted in the rematch Thursday.

Southern Door could be the team to beat in the Packerland after taking both games of a doubleheader against visiting Kewaunee last week.

Algoma gets its shot at the Eagles next Friday. The Wolves blanked Bonduel April 24, but the Bears didn’t start their top pitcher and Algoma took advantage, scoring five runs in the first two innings.
The Spartans got a Rylan Kaminski double followed by an Alayna Deprez RBI single in taking a 1-0 first inning lead against the Vikings, but could only get two hits the rest of the way, another by Kaminski and one from Karsyn Walyczyk. Baylee Wypiszenski took the loss.

A day later, L-C took two from Clintonville, 11-1 and 13-0. Gracie Jandrin had three hits in the opener and Kaminski and Riley Westland each two doubles. Jandrin earned the win.
