KEWAUNEE COUNTY – The annual Kewaunee County Toys for Tots drive, which is sponsored by the United States Marine Corp Reserve, assisted more than 100 families this holiday season.
This year’s distribution took place on Saturday, Dec. 20 at the Holy Rosary Parish in Kewaunee. The drive served a total of 109 families with 225 children. Volunteers collected and distributed more than 2,000 toys, games, stuffed animals and books.
In order to participate in the drive, families had to provide ID for the adult picking up the toys, proof of current address and birth certificates for all children in the household.
Sheriff Matt Joski expressed his appreciation for the community’s participation in the drive.
“Thank you to all who took the time to purchase and drop off a toy over the past few weeks. The boxes were overflowing at many of the sites.
“We owe a great deal of gratitude to all of the businesses that served as drop off sites, and to the many individuals businesses and organizations who made donations to the program.”
The community initiative continues to succeed year after year thanks to the generosity of Kewaunee County citizens, who come together to donate gifts for kids who may not otherwise receive any and volunteer to assist with the unloading, organizing and distribution of toys.
