Well, we finally got our week of summer weather. As this is written Tuesday, temperatures are in the mid to high 80s but will be cooling down in a couple of days.
The strangest thing happened to me last weekend. Most of the day Sunday, I spent thinking it was Saturday. I don't know if I slept through Saturday or what.
I was watching golf on TV and was surprised when the tournament ended. I thought that was odd for it to end on Saturday rather than Sunday but figured they had a reason. Then I got on the computer and discovered I was wrong. It was Sunday. I guess that comes with retirement. Every day seems the same and one blends into the next one.
But I do know one thing for sure. I'm writing this on a Tuesday. That's my answer and I'm sticking to it.
► I wonder how the Green Bay Packers will do this year. I know as you're reading this, there are two more preseason games to play before the season opener against the Chicago Bears on Sept. 9. That's when it gets serious.
I hope they don't start the season with a bunch of injuries. The team especially needs to keep quarterback Aaron Rodgers healthy. He is critical to a successful season. But as the old song goes, “Whatever will be, will be.”
I find the preseason difficult to watch, with many players we've never heard of. I understand why they are playing, because the coaches have to determine who can play and who can't. However, it's still difficult for the fans to watch.
► I found this cute story on the internet. And I apologize in advance to all blondes. We've all heard blonde jokes, and here's another one:
A blonde went to a flight school insisting that she wanted to learn to fly. As all the planes were currently in use, the owner agreed to instruct her by radio on how to pilot a helicopter. He took her out, showed her how to start it, gave her the basics, and sent her on her way.
After she climbed to 1,000 feet, she radioed in, "I'm doing great! I love it! The view is so beautiful, and I'm starting to get the hang of this.”
At 2,000 feet, she radioed again, saying how easy it was to fly.
The instructor watched her climb over 3,000 feet and was beginning to worry that she hadn't radioed in. A few minutes later, he watched in horror as she crashed about half a mile away. He ran over and pulled her from the wreckage.
When he asked what happened, she said, "I don't know! Everything was going fine, but as I got higher, I was starting to get cold. I can barely remember anything after I turned off the big fan."
Have a great week, everyone.
