Winter Park opens to skiers, snowboarders and snow tubers

KEWAUNEE - Skiers, snowboarders and snow tubers will now be able to utilize Winter Park's hills, N3751 Ransom Moore Lane, as the park opens for the season this week.

Winter Park opened its hills to the public on Dec. 23 for a test run, and will open for the public with special hours, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. for skiing and snowboarding, and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. for snow tubing, on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. Regular-season, weekend-only hours will go into effect on Saturday. 

According to Jennifer Schneider, Kewaunee County Tourism coordinator and public information officer, it took eight days with optimal weather conditions to make enough snow to set five runs for skiing, snowboarding snow tubing.

Schneider also said that the snow tubing hill now includes a "Magic Carpet" standing conveyor belt lift, replacing the hill's tow rope system. 

“The tubing line is going to move much more efficiently, and it’s going to be really neat to see how excited visitors are about riding the Magic Carpet,” said Dave Myers, Kewaunee County promotion and recreation director. “We should be able to accommodate approximately 150 snow tubers on the hill at any given time.”
