With Rodgers, don't count out the Packers

The Green Bay Packers pulled one out in the last minute against Dallas last Sunday, thanks to Aaron Rogers and Davante Adams, who combined for a touchdown in the final minute of the game. It was exciting and just goes to show that when you have those two guys, there is always hope.

And this week won't be any easier, as the Green and Gold move on to face the Purple People Eaters in Minnesota on Sunday. It's always a dog fight between those two arch rivals. All I can say is “Go, Pack, Go!”

After the Vikings game they will face the New Orleans Saints on Oct. 22, and the week after that is a bye. That will give them a chance to heal up and prepare for the rest of the season.

• I'm still trying to adjust to the loss of my good friend Lou Orr, who passed away at the end of September. Speaking of that, her memorial service will be held Oct. 21 at Buchanan Funeral Home with visitation from 2 to 3 p.m., followed by the service.

It is definitely different. I hear things and think, oh, I'll have to tell that to Lou, and then I remember that I can't. But, as time goes on, it seems to be getting a little easier to accept. As the saying goes, “Time heals all wounds.” I guess that rings true. I just wish it would happen a little faster.

• I found some cute things on the internet. One goes, “I told you I don't have Alzheimer's. I have Some-Timers. Sometimes I remember and sometimes I don't.“

Then there is this one: “The secret to happiness is a good sense of humor and a bad memory.”

And last but not least, “I have a brain like the Bermuda Triangle. Information goes in, never to be found again.

I also found this about the Packers' NFL North rival Detroit Lions.

All the Seven Dwarfs were marching through the forest one day and they fell into a deep, dark ravine. Snow White, following behind, peered over the edge of the steep chasm and called out to her fallen comrades. From the depths of the dark hole, a voice returned, “The Detroit Lions are Super Bowl contenders.” Snow White thought to herself, “Thank goodness, at least Dopey has survived.”
