FISH CREEK – The Wolves put together a complete game on Monday, Feb. 12, playing solid on both offense and defense on their way to a 55-33 victory over the Vikings.
“I thought we did a good job of recognizing their two leading scorers, making them earn everything they got. They didn’t play a bad game, they just didn’t have a lot of opportunities because our kids were working so hard,” said Algoma head coach Mark Zastrow. “I thought we did a great job on the defensive glass, really rebounded well. That hurts us at times, we’re not big. Offensively, we just had such a nice balance tonight. Good to see Therese (Gerdman) have a good game. Her post play was outstanding and Ryley Zimmerman had probably her most complete game of the year. Really proud of the girls. They were ready to go tonight.”
The Wolves, who jumped out to a 12-0 lead and never looked back against the Vikings, were led by Zimmerman’s 18, followed by 12 from Gerdman and nine from Nora Krause.
KEWAUNEE – The Storm defense was unrelenting against the Clippers’ scorers on Monday, Feb. 12, allowing just five points in the first half and nine in the second for a 53-14 final.
Jade Kroll scored 20 points, along with four boards, four assists and two steals. Brianna Demmin had 18 points, eight rebounds, an assist, four steals and a block.
WAUPACA – Luxemburg-Casco, only a couple days removed from a blowout win against Little Chute, was dealt an 11-point defeat by Waupaca on Friday, Feb. 9 in a 44-33 final.
Brianna Bray turned in 12 points on four three pointers, in addition to three rebounds, two assists and a steal to lead the Spartans while Sienna Blohowiak added eight points, a steal, two assists and a rebound.
