Wolves fall to Clippers

ALGOMA – It was a slow start for both teams on Friday, Jan. 5 in Algoma as the Wolves took on the Clippers, with the game’s first points being scored after nearly five minutes had come off the clock.

And when the dust settled on the mid-season Packerland Conference matchup, it was Sturgeon Bay on top 49-39.

“Offensively, we just got stagnant. We’ve got to figure out ways to get better shots off and run things a little bit better on that end of the floor,” said Algoma Head Coach Eric Schneider. “Defensively, we played well all night. We’re locked in, doing the right things and getting to the right spots. We’ve just got to figure out a way to score.”

Down 14-9, Algoma’s Parker Lischka scored on a nice pull up jumper to pull the Wolves to within three before Chase Romdenne notched two points with a highlight-reel drive to the basket, making it 14-13 Sturgeon Bay.

But that would be as close as the Wolves would get to the lead as the Clippers pulled away in the second half to get the win.

LIschka finished with 13 points, four rebounds, two assists and a steal while Cody Kirchman turned in 12 points, four boards, an assist and a steal.

Storm batter Pioneers, await Eagles

KEWAUNEE – The Kewaunee boys moved to 5-0 on the year in Packerland Conference competition, 7-3 overall, with a lopsided 87-45 victory over Sevastopol on Friday, Jan. 5.

Thomas Stangel led the way for Kewaunee with 23 points, six rebounds, five assists and a steal while teammate Avery Jerabek totaled 22 points, three steals, an assist and three boards.

The Storm now face off against Southern Door on Friday, Jan. 12 with the conference’s top spot on the line.
