KEWAUNEE - More charges were filed against a 33-year-old man accused of physically abusing a 7-year-old girl so badly she was critically injured, and abuse charges also were brought against a woman in the same case.
Alan T. Finch of Luxemburg appeared Thursday in Kewaunee County Circuit Court after he was arrested and initially charged Tuesday with reckless physical abuse of a child.
During Thursday's hearing, Finch was charged with physical abuse of a child, repeated acts intentionally causing great bodily harm, chronic neglect of a child, and causing mental harm to a child. Judge Keith Mehn set Finch's bail at $250,000 cash, and Finch is being held in Kewaunee County Jail.
Also charged in the case is Dawn M. Jimenez, 35, of Luxemburg. She was arrested on the same charges Finch is facing and is being held at the county jail awaiting a bail hearing.
The Kewaunee County Sheriff’s Department received a call at about 2:25 p.m. Tuesday from a Green Bay hospital that was treating the girl for injuries the hospital said were consistent with physical abuse, according to a press release from the sheriff's department. Unconscious and listed in critical condition, she subsequently was transported to Children’s Hospital in Milwaukee for continued treatment.
Along with the sheriff’s department, Kewaunee County Human Services and members of the Wisconsin Department of Justice Division of Criminal Investigation are continuing to investigate the case.
No updates were given on the girl's condition.
