Kewaunee man identified in fatal utility vehicle accident Thursday

CARLTON – A man who died as a result of a utility vehicle accident Thursday night has been identified as Wayne Paral, 76, of Kewaunee.
According to the Kewaunee County Sheriff's Department, initial information at the scene indicated Paral was operating the vehicle on a trail adjacent to bluffs overlooking Lake Michigan when the unit went off the ledge.
The sheriff's department was called at approximately 7:06 p.m. The caller said the man was trapped under the vehicle and not breathing.
Because of limited access to the incident scene, units from Kewaunee Rescue, Carlton First Responders, Carlton Fire Department and Kewaunee Fire Department responded. Paral was retrieved from below the ledge by the Carlton Fire Department and was pronounced dead at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.
An investigation into the accident is ongoing with the assistance of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
