Brian Dorner

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Brian George Dorner, age 65, who passed away late Tuesday night, December 31, 2024, at home in the presence of family. Brian was a loving husband, dedicated father, proud Papa B, and cherished friend to many.

Brian was born on September 12, 1959, to the late Robert and Elaine (Kust) Dorner. He was a 1977 graduate of Luxemburg-Casco High School. Brian married the former Kim Van Pay on August 22, 1992, at St. Thomas the Apostle Church in Sugarbush. He was a man of strong faith, work ethic, and dedication. He worked on the Dorner Family Farm before going to work for Stahl Construction/Dorner-Stahl Inc./Dorner Inc. where he spent over 46 years in sewer and water construction as a foreman/excavator operator. Brian previously owned Green Bay Billiards from 1983-1986.

Brian was an avid muskie fisherman, bow and gun hunter, archery shooter, and pool player. He loved spending time with his grandkids and was known as Papa B. Brian was also a lifetime member of Titletown Muskies Inc. and Wisconsin Bowhunters Association.

He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Kim; their children, Mallory (Josh) Mertens and Courtney Dorner; grandchildren, Lance (4 yrs), Liviana (14 months), and Logan (2 months) Mertens. He is also survived by his siblings: Joyce McCall; Steve Dorner; Lloyd Dorner; Robert Jr. “Bobby” (Louann) Dorner; Keith (fiancé, Dawn Krause) Dorner; Barry (fiancé, Lisa Cochran) Dorner; Wesley (Brenda) Dorner; Kay (special friend, Lindsey Donald) Dorner, and Bruce (fiancé, Laurie Espy) Dorner. Brian is also survived by his father and mother-in-law, Gerald “Jerry” and Dorothy Van Pay; brother-in-law, Kipp Van Pay; brother-in-law, Kris (Trish) Van Pay and sister-in-law, Kelly (Kerry) De Grave; many nieces and nephews.

Brian was preceded in death by his sister-in-law, Mary Dorner; brother-in-law, Forrest McCall and the family dog Cinnamon (16.5 yrs).

Friends may call at St. John Lutheran Church, 700 Heritage Rd, Luxemburg, on Wednesday, January 8, from 3:00-7:30 pm. A prayer service will close the evening at 7:30. Visitation will continue on Thursday at the church from 9:00-10:45 am. Funeral service 11:00 am Thursday at the church with Rev. Carl Brewer officiating.
