City of Kewaunee looks for its next clerk-treasurer

Posted

KEWAUNEE – While the City of Kewaunee looks for its next clerk-treasurer, at the August meeting the Kewaunee Common Council approved a motion to have Bauman Associates Ltd. perform basic treasurer support duties for the city in the interim.
While current city hall staff will be handling the basics of daily accounts payable, utility payments and other such duties, Bauman staff will provide support through doing monthly bank and investment reconciliations with the city’s Workhorse accounting system, as well as preparing the necessary reporting for monthly council meetings.
The scope of their services also includes various backup duties, but the majority of the services will be within the aforementioned areas.

Renewal of Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan
The common council also approved an ad hoc committee, composed of council members, Cedar Corporation representatives, Parks and Recreation representatives and local residents to renew the now-expired Comprehensive Outdoor Recreation Plan.
The committee is a temporary assignment and will be disbanded once the work is completed.

Approval of Lighthouse Preservation Committee chair
After their June 20 meeting, the Lighthouse Preservation Committee submitted several recommendations to the common council for consideration and approval by the common council:
• Approval of Jake Heffernan as the new chairperson of the committee.
• The request for a donation pillar to be placed in the Donald & Jean Smith Lighthouse Park adjacent to the breakwater access.
• Temporary installation of a lighthouse clock inside the Pierhead Lighthouse during the summer months on an annual basis for up to five years.
The common council approved all motions.
