The berry farm began in 1978 when Todd Kraynik, at the age of 15 and a sophomore in high school, was inspired to grow strawberries. Kenny Kraynik took the initiative to make it a pick-your-own operation. Todd was a partner until he took it over in 2018 with his wife, Linda. Submitted photo

KEWAUNEE – After 45 years of operation, Kraynik’s Strawberry Farm has closed.

The farm — located at N3545 Church Road — has been run by Kenny & Judy and Todd & Linda Kraynik.

“We treasure all the many acquaintances and friendships we’ve made along the way — always welcoming the new generations that came along,” a release from the Kraynik stated.

“We have been a family-run business since Todd, at the age of 15 and a sophomore in high school, had the dream and inspiration to plant strawberries, and Kenny had the initiative to make it the first ‘Pick-Your-Own’ operation in Kewaunee.

“Our family always looked forward to other families and their children coming to the Strawberry Farm to ‘Pick-Their-Own’ strawberries.  “We appreciate all of our customers’ friendship and patronage throughout the years and will miss them dearly.”

The strawberry farm closed on June 29; however, the greenhouse — operated by Todd Todd and Linda Kraynik at N3545 Church Road in Kewaunee — will continue operation.
