Ludlow: Time for some snowman jokes

It’s that time of the year again.

I want to start off by wishing that all readers of this column have a VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS! It’s the reason for the season. I’m not one that goes with the generic Happy Holidays. Call it what it is.

At my age, I don’t do a lot for the holiday. So that makes it a lot less stressful. I will probably spend the day visiting with my friend Lou Orr, at Linden Manor.

I’m a sub in the Tuesday Morning Glories Bowling League and attended its Christmas party this week. It was a morning of fun bowling with the first two games being a nine pin tap event and the last game an eight pin tap. With the nine pin event, any hit that is nine pins or more is counted as a strike. The first game all I could muster was one nine pin hit and not much else. It wasn’t pretty. The second game was a little better, but not a lot. But the last game where any hit of eight or more counted as a strike. I was a lot luckier. I didn’t win anything, but it was a fun morning with lots of holiday treats.

Then in the afternoon, I attended the Christmas party at Linden Manor, with more holiday treats. I felt like I ate my way through Tuesday. But both events were enjoyable. I have one more party for the season, and that’s the Thursday Ladies Classic Christmas Party, also this week.

Now on to the Packers. They need to win out to make the playoffs which means they will have to beat the Vikings on Christmas Eve. So I hope they give fans a great present with a victory over their arch rivals. The game is at noon Christmas Eve.

The Pack will face another challenge on New Year’s Day, against the division leaders, the Lions. So basically they control their future. All they have to do is win — which can be a tall order. But whatever will be, will be. If the Pack doesn’t make the playoffs, I guess they didn’t deserve to be there. It’s really been an up and down season. First, the team had a four-game losing streak, followed by the current four-game winning streak. Can this team turn it into a six-game streak? Time will tell. It will be an exciting finish to the season.

Are you ready for some snowman humor? What cereal do healthy snowmen have for breakfast? Frosties.

What do hungry snowmen put on their ice burgers? Chilly sauce.

And then there’s what sort of cakes do snowmen like? The ones with thick icing.

And last but not least … What did the snowman’s hat say to the scarf? You hang around while I go on ahead.

Have a very Merry Christmas everyone!
