Ludlow: Change in the weather, change in the Packers

The recent warm-up in the weather was really nice. As of this writing, the temperature in Kewaunee is 39 degrees and expected to rise into the 40s

It’s too bad it won’t last. By the time you are reading this, the temperatures will likely be back to normal for this time of the year. But, it is what is it is, so I’ll quit my whining.

» The Green Bay Packers have hired a new general manager, Brian Gutekunst, to replace Ted Thompson. It will be interesting to watch how the team responds. Aaron Rodgers being out for several weeks this past season really exposed the weaknesses of the team. Let’s see if they can correct those under a new management team.

Also, according to a news article I saw, the Pack has hired Joe Philbin as the new offensive coordinator and Mike Pettine as the new defensive coordinator.

So, there will be a definite change in the team in the coming season. It should be fun to watch as this coming season progresses. And, as far as I’ve heard, head coach Mike McCarthy is not going anywhere.

The draft is in late April. I’m sure that Green Bay Packers fans will be interested in who the team selects. As of now, Green Bay picks at 14 in the first round, unless they trade up or down. This offseason is certainly going to be an intriguing one.

All I know is that the playoffs were a lot more fun to watch for the last nine years than they are this year. Does anyone really care now who wins or loses? Not me. Although I guess I would prefer that the NFC beats the AFC in the Super Bowl. Like an old Doris Day song goes, “Whatever will be, will be.”

» I found some cute riddles on the internet that came from Reader’s Digest. Here are a couple of them:

With pointed fangs I sit and wait; with piercing force I crunch out fate; grabbing victims, proclaiming might; physically joining with a single bite. What am I?

Answer: A stapler.

And then there was this one: How many seconds are there in a year?

The answer is 12. Jan. 2, Feb. 2, March 2, April 2, May 2, June 2, July 2, Aug. 2, Sept. 2, Oct. 2, Nov. 2, Dec. 2.

And with that, I will close. Have a great week, everyone, and stay warm!
