At least I didn’t need the ATM on annual casino trip

It was that time again for our annual August trip to Harris, Michigan, and the Island Casino.
We've been going up there for the last several years around this time. This weekend, 12 women from Kewaunee County took the trip. The gals hailed from Kewaunee, Algoma and Luxemburg.
As usual, we had a lot of fun. The trip always includes a stop at Apple Jack's in Marinette to eat on the way up and the way back. Les Svoboda wasn't there, because he has moved to Green Bay, but we had a nice visit with Pam, who was tending bar. It was great to see her again, too. And she looked good as always.
Usually I take a limited amount of money in cash and if necessary, I will visit a cash machine at the casino. But this year, I didn't need to. I guess I just didn't gamble as much because I actually came home with some of my original cash in my wallet. Not winnings, either — I did win some, but lost more than I won. But that is how it usually goes.
I think we spent more time in the designated party room this year than we did gambling in the casino. I mainly go because it's always a good time with good friends and we always celebrate my birthday that fell on Wednesday.
Some of the gals were lucky. One of them won $300. But I'm just happy to get home with some cash in my wallet.
► I found these words of wisdom on a Facebook page of jokes and quotes:
“After eating an entire bull, a lion felt so good he started roaring. He kept roaring until a hunter came along and shot him. The moral of the story — When you're full of bull, keep your mouth shut."
And with that, I will wish everyone a great week.
