Point Beach Nuclear Plant siren maintenance postponed in Kewaunee, Manitowoc counties

LUXEMBURG – Siren maintenance for the outdoor warning sirens, originally scheduled for early September, has been delayed.
The work is now scheduled to take place between Sept. 21 and 30. During this time-frame, sirens within the 10 miles of the plant — in Manitowoc and Kewaunee counties — will sound for approximately one to three minutes. Once work on all sirens is completed, a three-minute activation is planned for all the sirens in the 10-mile Emergency Planning Zone.
During the duration of the testing, if individuals have concerns and are unsure whether or not the activities may be related to the maintenance, call 920-845-9701 or 920-388-3100 for verification. In the event of an actual emergency, dial 911.
