Kewaunee girls down Indians

KEWAUNEE – The Kewaunee High girls are off to a 4-0 start to the 2023-24 season following a 50-41 point victory over Mishicot at home on Friday, Dec. 1.
“We knew it was going to be a tough game, one of those grinding games,” said Kewaunee head coach Lynn Geier. “We knew to expect a hard game and I think it was a huge signature win for us. I think Mishicot might be in our tournament bracket so this will be big, they have some very physical players on that team.”
The Indians played an extremely aggressive, physical game and the Storm endured everything the visitors threw at them, jumping out to a seven-point lead at halftime, up 19-12 and then maintaining the lead for the entirety of the second half.
Jade Kroll led the Storm with 16 points, followed by nine from Gabby Stangel. Lexi Hanrahan and Braelyn Chevalier each had eight for Kewaunee in the win.
Spartans sideswipe Truckers
LUXEMBURG – The Luxemburg-Casco girls evened their early-season record at 2-2 following a blowout 47-18 win over Clintonville on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
10 players got into the scoring action for L-C, with Brianna Bray leading the way with 10 points. Alayna Deprez added seven and Erin Cherovsky, Siena Blohowiak and Maggie Debaker each had five,
L-C girls grab first win
OCONTO FALLS – The Luxemburg-Casco girls’ basketball is in the win column after a 43-33 road victory over Oconto Falls.
Erin Cherovsky had 16 points and four rebounds to lead the Spartans. Briana Bray added 10 points, three steals and an assist while Alayna Deprez and Magdeline Hanmann each added six points.
Wolves fall to Blue Devils
OCONTO – The Algoma girls played Oconto to a 16-16 tie at halftime on Friday, Dec. 1 but couldn’t keep pace in the second half, losing the game on a 45-32 final.
The Wolves, now 3-1, got a game-high 15 points from Jadyn Nellis and eight from Sierra Slaby.
Algoma takes care of NEW Lutheran/Providence
ALGOMA – The Algoma girls picked up their first win of the season in dramatic fashion on Tuesday, Nov. 28 with a 64-36 victory over Green Bay NEW Lutheran/Providence Academy.
The Wolves, who were up 33-21 at halftime and never looked back, got 21 points, five steals and seven rebounds from Jadyn Nellis. Rylee Zimmerman added 14 points, three steals, three assists and two boards and Sierra Slaby turned in 11 points, nine rebounds and an assist.
